H.R.645 - National Emergency Centers Establishment Act
- toray99 : Hastings was previously a federal judge, impeached and removed from office on 1989 for corruption and perjury.
The people of his district must be very stupid indeed. Anyone who does crimes like this should never be able to hold public office.
I wonder how much money he got for sponsoring this bill ? Most politicians probably have money transferred to an off-shore bank account if they go along with certain bills and policies. Money coming from lobbyists, corporations and ultra-elites. Really why else would you spend millions of dollars for a job that pays 100,000 a year.
- toray99 : The government keeps taking our freedom away, disguised as protecting us.
I personally would rather have my freedom and take my chances with so-called terrorists. I think most people of the US really know whom are enemies are. Most of the enemies are in the washington dc area.

H.R.1207 - Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009
- PGJK : 2 things, imnavarro4, First of all inflation hasn't been fully accounted in your calculation. 60-70 years ago you could have seen a full day of movies (4-6 hours entertainment) including condiments (ie; popcorn, candy & soda) for about 25 cents, with a companion it was maybe another 5-10 cents more. Present day's cost is approx. $40 for just 2 hours of movie time (ie; entertainment + food). So its fairly safe to say you probably got more bang outta your buck back in 1913 than you get 2010.
Secondly, Federal Reserve can create money not value therefore they create inflation ...(USD: $90 now its low has been $70) or they can decrease the money supply and create deflation (lowering prices for oil and increasing the dollar’s purchasing power)..
...Thats never gonna happen this isn't Walmart where they can just rollback prices. those powers that be " Big Oil" aren't about to rollback anytime soon. When was the last time you conceded to or volunteered for a pay cut and were happy about it?

S.3002 - Dietary Supplement Safety Act
- theboatlady : I would be in bad shape if not for my supplements. I take products from a very good company. Of course, you have to be careful, but staying away from OTC products and prescriptions is even better. Do not let a bill like this pass. I want my right to decide what I want to take!
- Astntom : ZERO people have died from nutritious diet supplements. I thought the GOP (McCain is one) were trying to get government OUT of our lives. What a laugh!
To use your words, "have you any idea the amount of people that die due to the side effects ..." of AUTHORIZED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS???

S.3081 - Enemy Belligerent, Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010
- fatamericanbastard : Seriously if you read in the synopsis of the bill it says, "Allows the detention and interrogation of such individuals for a reasonable time after capture or coming into custody. Defines "unprivileged enemy belligerent" as an individual who:
(1) has engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners;
(2) has purposely and materially supported hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners; or
(3) was a part of al Qaeda at the time of capture."
At least if this bill passes we will have reigned in some of the broad reaching power that the Patriot Act has. I know it sucks but I have only spoke the truth.
- fatamericanbastard : In case people forgot, the Patriot Act is still in effect. All this bill does is set LIMITS and DEFINITIONS that were omitted from the Patriot Act. Like it or not but any cop or government official that decides that joe schmoe might be a threat to "The Homeland" can have said joe schmoe pulled from public and placed in military custody, interrogated, and held indefinitely no matter what his background or personal beliefs happen to be, period. Please re-read both this bill and the Patriot Act and then re-think if you oppose this bill.

H.R.257 - Child Gun Safety and Gun Access Prevention Act of 2009
- MACitizenPatriot : I think the legislation is reasonable and provides a rational means of keeping track of gun transactions at transient events like gun shows. No one is prohibited from buying or selling. It does not seem to be excessive and the negative reaction in these comments appears to unfounded. I strongly believe in the second amendment and gun owner rights and am not disturbed by reasonable controls and reporting.
- kombatandfw : Please, stop regulating my life.

H.R.226 - Broadcaster Freedom Act of 2009
- moionfire : The fairness doctrine doesn't force broadcasters to "promote" other opinions. It forces them to present opposing views in order to give people an accurate understanding of other opinions. Using the word "promote" assumes the broadcasters have to agree with every opinion that is presented to the public...
- rememberyourhistory : You people should really read this one. It doesn't say anything about limiting speech, or what you can or can't say. It says if there is a controversial issue, such as an election or a war, the broadcasters can not freely "push" their own agenda over public airwaves. If they spend time on one view, they need to use the same amount of time for the opposing view.
I believe in this one wholeheartedly, see William Randolph Hearst, American newspaper magnate and leading newspaper publisher in the late 1800s, the Spanish–American War and Yellow Journalism. His quote was "You furnish the pictures, I'll furnish the war." Look it up. People who don't want to hear opposing views, well you should look up Fascism.
