The problem with bills like this is that they lump too many things into an all or nothing vote. Break out each piece into its own bill and let it stand or fall on its own merits. As for the property tax piece: it is my experience that having a mortgage usually makes it better for you to itemize, so this property tax credit would mostly benefit those who own their home free and clear already, and that is not who needs help at the moment. As for the builders and bankers: there is no inherent right to make a profit. It always amazes me how politicians who claim to abhor socialism for individuals support it for corporations.
