S.1858 Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2007
- Anonymous : Valentine's mother, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Were you not aware that testing was an option for you? I just had a home birth and my midwife offered genetic testing, which we did. I firmly believe it should always be a parent's right to test or to choose not to test. The upsetting part of this bill is, first, that it's for ALL newborns and, second, that there will be an Internet database to track each and every newborn and their treatment, etc. Furthermore, I'm also confused as to how this was passed via "suspension of the rules" to forego the usual procedure and time for investigating and arguments. I really appreciated Ron Paul's letter regarding this bill. I didn't know much about Paul, but his letter, as a medical professional, was telling.
- Anonymous : I am a mother who just had a baby Valentines Day 2008, the hospital did not test for a heritable disorder...My newborn was released from the hospital, and returned within two days with brain damage. He had to have a double blood transfusion and two weeks in the NICU. This was very preventable, now my life has been drastically changed and my son has lost hearing, and is being rehabilitated by P.T., O.T., Neurologist, Hemotologist, E.N.T, Pediatrician and a who host of others. The Regional center is spending a grip of money on a very preventable situation...I am very happy for this bill it will save lots of money and many more kids lives. 14 More

- americausa : BUSH wants to bail out Wall street but the unemployed can just wait and starve! The Congress, the Senate and BUSH are criminal, despicable, naive, and in very dangerous water. To ignore the unemployed and not take care of them is so shortsighted its beyond belief. More Extended benefits need to be passed now! The seven weeks is really a joke as unemployment WILL continue to rise and rise. It needs to be a total of 52 or more as it was in the past. Wake up politician's (PUBLIC SERVANT) as your day is coming, and you be joining the unemployed and learn first hand what it can feel like to be jobless. More jobs will be lost, more Banks will fail and you can only blame yourselves for letting Bush and Cheney get away with robbing the working American public who are as dumb and naive as Sarah Palin!
- OliviasMom : Dear Senator Kennedy, I am pleading with you to vote in favor of H.R. 4926, here is my personal reason why: My first awareness of Longated QT Syndrome (LQTS) or Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in young adults was April 12, 2004. On this day I went into my daughter's bedroom to wake her up for school and found her not breathing. My daughter was in the hospital for 10 days, on life support. The doctors were not sure why this seemingly healthy, 14 year old girl, would just stop breathing. After days of running test after test, a cardiologist was finally able to give us a diagnosis, Long QT syndrome. What, what is Long QT Syndrome? What were the warning signs my daughter would have had? Why didn't her pediatrician detect this problem at birth? Why, when I took her to the doctor for headaches, dizziness, feeling as though she were going to faint, why didn't they request an EKG, or why didn't I request it? Why, because I was unaware of this silent killer known as Long QT Syndrome. Olivia had always been an energetic, bright, beautiful child. She was so curious about everything, always wanting excitement and adventure in her life. Olivia was very active as a cheerleader and loved to play basketball. Olivia was very competitive, healthy as can be, so we thought. April 22, 2004, my 14 year old daughter, Olivia Corinne Hoff, passed away. As a mother, I am writing this to bring public awareness to our local community about LQTS and SCA and the importance of AED'in our local schools in. It was four years April 22, 2008 that my daughter passed away. Not a day goes by that I don't ask myself, Why didn't I know, why didn't I see the warning signs ? If I had, maybe Olivia would be alive today. Unfortunately, for me and my family, our life is forever changed. As a mom, I cannot express the depth of pain in losing a child. When my daughter died, a part of me died too. I understand that this bill would, among other things, establish a grant program for local education agencies to purchase automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and train school staff to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and correctly use AEDs. I ask that you please do your part to save lives by doing what you can to see that the Senate passes H.R. 4926, Josh Miller HEARTS Act. There are many parents grieving the loss of their children and feeling the same pain that I will, we will feel, for the rest of our lives. I am a Mom on a Mission to do whatever I can to save the lives or our children. I will not let Olivia's death be in vain. Olivia cannot speak out about LQTS. Olivia cannot ask the Senate to help pass H.R. 4926. I am Olivia's voice. As Olivia's mom, I will continue to do all that I can to honor my daughter's memory, as memories is all I have. Sincerely, Corinne Ruiz, Olivia's mom 604 Harvest Creek Rd Bakersfield, CA 93312-4005 31 More

- americausa : I have been out of work since November 2007. My unemployment benefits have run out. My money has run out. I unable to obtain employment and need more time to continue my search for employment. I am at risk of losing my car. Gas prices continue to rise daily. I am highly skilled in my field. My State Rhode Island is one of the hardest hit with unemployment. I am 53 old and have worked hard all my life. I've paid taxes all my life, and this is how my country is treating me. Unbelievable. The Senate, House and President continue to play games as peoples life's are put in jeopardy. Totally disgusting. So all the extra time that I am not spending on looking for employment, I will dedicate to making sure any politician that votes nay on not extending unemployment insurance will be out of a job their next term by informing the public of their decision in every forum available. I will encourage others to do so as well. It is time in this country for the people to take control of their government again and take it out of the hands of the uninformed, out of touch, uncompassionate, ignorant, greedy, self absorbed fools that are the true terrorists ruining this country. Pass a fxxkxxg bill extending unemployment benefits or you will be out of a fxxkxxg job!!!!!!!!! 8 More

Com Mar. 01, 08 Satellites used in Home surveillance No citizen is entirely without danger of being harmed by the U S Governments’ Space Satellite programs using high frequency energy, lasers. Similar to the surveillance used during the Viet Nam War, these units are able to penetrate just about anything, characterizing human bodies as they walk though their homes. There are very few places within a home that cannot be spied upon, depending on where the systems are directed–bathroom, kitchens, bedrooms, throughout the home, spying and doing their dastardly thing. Mobil ground units operating in an equivalent way are able to penetrate walls of buildings doing surveillance and harming Citizens. Much like satellites, ground units assault using multifrequency energies, lasers, directed by ground coordinators, causing damage to joint and nerve tissue of any part of a heat generating body. Seldom, if ever, individuals who are harmed realize what’s happening to them. Doctors will treat the inflection as a common ailment. The suffering may go on for years without the government ever stopping it, in some cases causing death. Fortunately, the incoming satellite and ground energies can be detected and identified, by using an effective barrier partitions. It's a trail and error in most cases, a matter of using barriers, checking to see if the pain continues. The End
- Anonymous : How could you vote to pass bill H.R. 1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007? Do you think Americans' should not have their civil liberties?! Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?! I will do everything make it known that we have a state rep that is willing to take away our rights, because of a potential problem! That because of some people are potential threats that you believe the innocent must suffer as well! I love my freedoms to think what I want, and I am going to make sure everyone knows that you said yes to a bill that says I can no longer express them if they go against the government for fear of being a homegrown terrorist! I hope you can live with your decision on helping with the destruction of this once great country! 0 More
