Hi Everyone, I am in a situation that I haven't seen addressed on this forum, I'm hoping someone might have an answer. I lost my job back in July of 2007, this was due to a plant closure, I was living in Phoenix at the time. After losing my job my wife and I along with our grandson decided that since we had to start over again that we would move back home to Kentucky. We did and I signed up for UI Benifits through Arizona, I have been unable to find employment although I have been trying very hard to do so. My UI Benifits ran out in February and I have not had a source of income since, although we do receive food stamps for our food needs and our church (LDS) has been kind enough to pay our rent and utilities through their welfare program I am still not happy and won't be until I find a job. It is my responsibility to provide for the needs of my family, and no matter how hard I try or how many jobs I apply to I hardly ever get called, I've had a few interviews but I am told afterward that I am either over or under qualified. I have a great resume, I have two freinds that are HR Managers, they were kind enough to review my resume for me and they advised me to not change a thing, they said it was one of the best they had seen. I told them that I was beggining to think something was wrong with my resume or with me, they said it wasn't me, it's just that companies are both cutting back on hiring and cutting jobs due to the current economic times. Sorry....I guess I got off track a little bit, I just had to vent my frustration a little. Now my question, if the UI Benifits Extension does go through, will I fall under Arizona's UI rate (4.3%) or would it be my home state of Kentucky (5.7%), these numbers are probably higher now as they were from January. FYI...There is a big difference in the maximum weekly UI Benifit in these two states, I'm not sure why, the cost of living in Arizona is far greater than in Kentucky. Arizona Max. $240.00 / Kentucky Max. $402.00. Thanks for listening and I would appriciate any information that you can share.
