H.R.4530 - Student Nondiscrimination Act of 2010
- FaithNikkiIan : I believe ALL students need to be protected from bullying and harassment, gay and straight alike. Bullying happens to kids for a variety of reasons, including being overweight, socially awkward, or having a disability. Being/ being perceived of as gay/lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered is one major reason, (though yes, not the only one, as I know firsthand). But when it happens to kids for sexual orientation/ gender identity, their membership in a "specific class" is automatically made an issue by the bullies, and is the reason why they are being targeted. If people are going to be targeted BECAUSE of their membership in a "specific class" (and in quite high numbers), legal protections specified for THAT PARTICULAR CLASS are in fact necessary.
So I support this bill!
- FaithNikkiIan : My note sent to Rep. Frank Pallone here in NJ
I am writing to ask you to support H.R. 4530, the Student Nondiscrimination Act of 2010. Bullying and harassment are huge issues for young people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered. I am against bullying of all students, as I experienced bullying growing up (not for my sexual orientation), but I know that LGBT youth are highly vulnerable to bullying. Many people bullied are victimized because of their sexual orientation/ gender identity. Too many students take their own lives related to the abuse, as we've seen examples of recently, including the suicide of Tyler Clementi at Rutgers. Because of their high vulnerability the law needs to specify their need for protection in schools. Thank you.

H.R.3458 - Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2009
- stockprofessors : Thanks for sharing very good information that will be so interesting. http://www.stockprofessors.com/
- timstrain : While I agree that the quality of life comparison is ridiculous, you are absolutely wrong about Americans fighting against communications regulations back in the 1800's. Read the Pacific Telegraph Act of 1860, where Congress regulated how telegraph lines were constructed, how they were operated, and who had access to them. That Act was the Net-neutrality policy of the Industrial Revolution, and seeing how well it worked back then, I don't see why it wouldn't work in today's world with the internet.

H.R.5353 - Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008
- brianb : As has been shown countless times, allowing private industries a firm hand over any area is allowing them to call the the shots. If you vote nay for this bill and state reasons of free market economics you are deluding yourself. If you think people won't swallow ISP's horse s*, you are sorely mistaken. In all likelihood they will never even know. Case in point, how many of your average fellow-citizens are aware that Comcast throttles users internet speeds based on their usage? Already we are not receiving the services that we pay for.
- mitchpamf : Highly suspect. Is this a Trojan Horse bill? Look at the sponsor's and co-sponsor's stand on Freedom of Speech and think very hard before voting yes for this bill.

- russKrin : Exactly. We don't just have to go making money, now we can actively participate in our countries rise and fall.
- BobSherwin : So, why is this bill still stalled in Congress and no similar bill introduced in Senate? Is it that wrong to allow our legislatures and "We the People" have a few days to read a bill?

H.R.6257 - Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008
- LobaAzul : The federal government has no legal Constitutional authority to decide this matter. They do it anyway because they have the guns. Get it, rrtr?
- BudWiser : This from a Republican???? These idiots have shot themselves in the foot over and over. Candidates like Bush, Dole, Kemp, and McCain were the big losers picked by idiots in the party leadership who have their heads screwed on backwards. The NRA and GOA should target this bill sponsor and inform his what party he is signed up with; OR the Republican Party should THROW HIM OUT!
