http://www.badbusinesspractices.org is a start. Lately, some cooler regulatory innovations are coming from the net and not from within the government. It's great that they are going to try to do something. Anyone reading this who wants to work on the site more, bring it on! Add your stories because businesses try to find loopholes in all kinds of ways. The best medicine for this behavior is exposure.

Does the current FCC hearing, held this past Monday on 2/25/08, have anything to do with this bill?

this bill would phase out federal subsidies for newer homes that cost more than $600,000...._________________________________________________________still: " Any premium increase implemented as a result of the bill would yield additional receipts to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP); however, CBO estimates that such funds would be spent to cover the ongoing costs of the program, resulting in no significant net effect on direct spending. Enacting this legislation would not affect revenues."________________________________________>>>>>>>>>

the definitions seem broad regardless of there being one. this comes from the bill text: `(2) VIOLENT RADICALIZATION- The term `violent radicalization' means the process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change.

I was in Philadelphia in 2002-2003 when Bush came to speak and mentioned the predatory lending industry and how they mus tbe stopped. I watched him on this issue after he mentioned it and I guess he didn't find anything he could do to stop what was happening. Living in Philadelphia where there were hundreds of signs seeking out low-income residents for sub-prime loans, I felt like the least we could do was take down those signs in poor neighborhoods.

it's so important that people are aware of bills and what they entail because many bills really do govern our lives. those who have been innocent victims know this best. laws shouldn't necessarily be made to rule out the extremes of any given situation, but should make sense according to how most of us live and want to be able to live.

Creating a division that is funded and run by the federal government to deal with issues of intellectual property enforcement does make everyone (the public) feel like the government and Hollywood is taking this issue even more seriously. The funds and manpower to back up the division is the innovation here. Hollywood is winning over some of those in office and winning some public dollars at the same time. On a really basic level, Hollywood is waging a war of paradigms -- they want people to understand their point of view, though it seems the internet is shifting the business model and millions of people just don't see their point.
