Yeah, when I interned on Capitol Hill in a Republican office, I was right across the hall from Obey…I wanted to switch sides. I’ve got a lot of respect for that man.

Initial thoughts, OurPresidency is structurally flawed by trying to limit the scope of the page to ‘human development’ issues. ‘OurPresident’ is going to have to tackle a lot and we need a forum for ALL.

Obama’s answer on the marijuana question on Change.gov is a flat NO: http://change.gov/newsroom/entry/open_for_questions_response/

Question for OpenCongress: do you see any ways to marry the aspirations of this site with the perceived openness of the Obama Administration’s efforts like change.gov? I just got an email from Our Presidency ( http://www.ourpresidency.com )saying they need Congressional District administrators to organize forums to directly communicate with Change.gov.

Has OpenCongress thought about the advantages and disadvantages of finding a way to link up with Change.gov? Obama, more than any other president, has expressed a willingness to use the Internet to empower citizens. OpenCongress is also trying to do exactly that.

I have to say, if I wasn’t from rustbelt Ohio, I wouldn’t support this bill. The combination of the knowledge of just how important these auto jobs are to my hometown and the fact that Obama (the president that would be in charge of distributing the loans) has supported it while encouraging auto companies to make major changes to their business model and the energy efficiency of their products leaves me more likely to support it DESPITE the ridiculous hemorrhaging of money in DC these days.

I’m glad to see Nydia Vasquez has supported it though. It’s going to be a tough fight in the Senate…
