Angie Paccione was a Democratic candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the 4th Congressional District (map) of Colorado. She was seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge incumbent Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-Colo.).

Bio
Born in 1960 in the South Bronx, Paccione graduated from Stanford University in 1983. Upon graduation, she played basketball professionally for several years before retiring to become a counselor at a center for at risk youth and eventually a high school teacher. In 1998, she earned her PhD in education from Colorado State University. In 2002, Paccione was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives from Colorado's House District 53, representing western Fort Collins; in her second term, she rose to become Majority Caucus Chair after Democrats gained control of the assembly in 2004.[1]
2006 elections
In September 2005, Paccione announced her intention to challenge incumbent Republican Marilyn Musgrave for Colorado's 4th district Congressional seat. Paccione has attacked Musgrave for having "a very singular focus on this [gay marriage], and that’s been all that she does".[2] Paccione has used Musgrave's opposition to gay marriage as a means to tie Musgrave to "a massive failure of leadership ... on the federal level".[3]
Paccione has focused a lot of her attention on making Colorado a hub of alternative energy technologies.[4] She has been endorsed by the Denver Post over Musgrave.[5]
Paccione lost the election in 2006 and Musgrave retained her seat. (See U.S. congressional elections in 2006)[6]

Paccione was seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-Colo.) in the 2008 congressional elections.[7][8]
