Members of the 110th Congress seeking other office
There were seven members of Congress seeking other office in the 2008 elections. This list includes two House members who ran successfully for the U.S. Senate, and therefore will be included in the 111th Congress.

  1. Tom Allen (D-Maine) - Unsuccessfully challenged Sen. Susan Collins (R) for her Senate seat.
  2. Rob Andrews (D-N.J.) - Lost a primary race to Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), retained his House seat.
  3. Kenny Hulshof (R-Mo.) - Unsuccessfully sought the governorship of Missouri.
  4. Stevan Pearce (R-N.M.) - Defeated by Tom Udall (D) for the Senate seat vacated by retiring Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.).
  5. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) - Won the Senate seat from Colorado being vacated by Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.).
  6. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) - Won the Senate seat from New Mexico being vacated by Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.).
  7. Heather Wilson (R-N.M.) - Lost a primary race for the Senate seat from New Mexico being vacated by Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.).
