Budget

In January 2007, after Congress passed a continuing resolution to keep the federal government operating for the remainder of the 2007 fiscal year, Rep. Moran argued that spending for farm disaster aid was inadequate after an effort to increase it by $3.3 billion failed.

Bio

Moran was born May 29, 1954, in Great Bend, Kansas. He attended Fort Hays State University and the University of Kansas, graduating with a degrees in Economics and Law. He served for eight years (1989-1996) in the Kansas State Senate, including as Senate Majority Leader for his two final years. He was elected to the House in 1996.

Congressional career

Moran's House biogrpahy describes him as "a leading advocate for protecting and preserving the way of life in Kansas. With rural populations on the decline throughout the nation, issues unique to rural communities are becoming less understood... Moran works with colleagues to construct legislation allowing Kansas farms and ranches to remain viable. Moran has been recognized for his agriculture efforts by many organizations. In 2004, he received the top legislative award from three of the nation's largest agriculture groups: the American Farm Bureau, the National Farmer's Union and the National Association of Wheat Growers."[1]

2006 elections

In 2006, the Democrats nominated John G. Doll to face Moran in his November 2006 bid for reelection. (See U.S. congressional elections in 2006) [2] Moran retained his seat.
