Jill Derby is the Democratic candidate for the 2nd Congressional District of Nevada

Jill Derby is the Democratic candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the 2nd Congressional District (map) of Nevada. She ran against and lost to Rep. Dean Heller in the 2006 congressional election. Derby won the Democratic nomination in the primary which took place on August 12, 2008.

Biography

Born in Lovelock, Nevada, Derby decided to return to college to study anthropology after travelling through the Middle East and Asia. She received a Bachelor's Degree in the discipline from UNLV and her Master's and Doctorate from the University of California, Davis. In 1988, Derby was elected Regent for the University and Community College System of Nevada. Most recently, Derby served as Chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party. She and her husband Steve have two children. [1]
