If elected, Causey’s first choice for committee assignment would be the House Agriculture Committee. He has written two pieces of farm legislation in the past and knows that farm issues are important to the state of Arkansas.

Causey wants to develop wind, solar, geothermal, hydropower, and biofuel technologies and bring green jobs to Arkansas. He does not support cap and trade policies, opting instead for "incentive-based legislation".

Causey says that his top priority is to decrease the national debt. By doing so, he believes that he can protect Social Security and Medicaid, two important programs.

The National Education Association endorses Causey. He believes in reforming No Child Left Behind and providing incentives for teachers to work in rural areas. Causey stated, "We can only get our economy moving again with a strong, educated workforce."

Causey believes that America should reduce its dependene on foreign oil and wants to capitalize on green job opportunities in Arkansas. One alternative energy he cites is biofuel development. He writes, "Arkansas State University is currently working on converting various cellulosic materials into biofuels, and I believe this is just the kind of research and development that our government should invest in."
