Cheryl Baswell Guthrie was a Republican candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the 5th Congressional District (map) of Alabama. She was seeking the Republican nomination to replace retiring incumbent Rep. Bud Cramer (D-Ala.). Alabama Republicans chose Wayne Parker over her in the GOP congressional runoff, which took place on July 15, 2008. [1]
