Christina Avalos was the Democratic nominee in the 2008 congressional elections for the 40th Congressional District (map) of California. She was the Democratic nominee seeking to challenge incumbent Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.). She won primary elections which took place on June 3, 2008, but lost to Royce in the November general election.[1]
