Craig Schmidtke is a former Republican candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the 2nd Congressional District (map) of Alabama. He was seeking the Democratic nomination to replace retiring incumbent Rep. Terry Everett (R-Ala). However, Schmidtke did not receive enough votes in the June 3, 2008 primary in order to be eligible for the July 15, 2008 GOP run off. ^[1]
