http://www.senaterepublicans.ct.gov/press/debicella/2010/011110.html January 11, 2010

Senator Dan Debicella has asked Attorney General Richard Blumenthal to oppose health reform legislation that would allow the state of Nebraska to receive $100 million in Medicaid expense exemptions by voting for Senator Ben Nelson. According to Debicella, “The healthcare legislation currently being considered would hurt middle class Connecticut families through higher costs and more taxes," said Senator Debicella. "To add insult to injury, the backroom deals made to pass the bill include massive giveaways to Nebraska and Louisiana - and guess who is footing the bill? Middle-class Connecticut taxpayers."

Senator Debicella and the General Assembly’s Public Health Committee announced the creation of a bipartisan task force to come up with legislation involving public blood cord banking by September 2010. This stems from proposed 2009 legislation requiring physicians to inform pregnant women about their cord blood banking options. According to Debicella, “"It is important for us to understand how we can utilize medical technology to help save thousands of lives. I am grateful that these experts are willing to share their knowledge with us and look forward to creating comprehensive legislation which will ultimately provide Connecticut residents with an invaluable health resource.”
