Ed Chau was the Democratic nominee in the 2008 congressional elections for the 42nd Congressional District (map) of California. On June 3, 2008, he received the Democratic nomination to challenge incumbent Rep. Gary Miller (R-Calif.), but lost to Miller in the November general election.[1]

Prior to the general eleciton, Chau did not live in the California 42nd district and did not plan to relocate unless he won the general election in Fall 2008.[citation needed]
