Jim Davis was a Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Florida's 11th Congressional District from 1997 to 2007.

Bio

Davis was born October 11, 1957 in Tampa, Florida. He was educated at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia and recieved his J.D. from the University of Florida. After graduating, her worked as a lawyer and a member of the Florida House of Representatives, as well as Majority Leader of the Florida House. He was first elected to the U.S. House in 1996.

Davis announced his candidacy for Governor of Florida in 2006 against State Senator Rod Smith. He is currently considered the front runner in this race to replace Republican Governor Jeb Bush in the 2006 election. Republicans nominated his son Eddie Adams and Democrats nominated Kathy Castor to contest the November 2006 election for his vacant congressional seat. (See U.S. congressional elections in 2006)
