Jim Oberweis is the Republican candidate for the 14th Congressional District (map) of Illinois. On March 8th, 2008, he was defeated by Democrat Bill Foster in a special election to serve the remaining term of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R).[1]

On March 8th, 2008, he was defeated in a special election by the Democratic candidate Bill Foster.[1] Also, Oberweis won the Republican nomination for the 2008 general congressional election taking place in November. He defeated Chris Lauzen in the Republican primary on February 5, 2008.[1][1]
