2007 elections
Ogonowski was seeking to replace Rep. Marty Meehan (D-Mass.) who retired on July 1, 2007 to become Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He will be running against Niki Tsongas, who won the Democratic nomination.[1][2]
On September 4, 2007, Ogonowski won the special Republican primary for the seat, defeating Thomas Tierney, a perennial candidate for the seat.[3]
