John Gard is the Republican candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the 8th Congressional District (map) of Wisconsin. He ran unopposed in primary elections which took place on September 9, 2008. [1] [1]

2006 Election
Gard was the Republican Party nominee in the 2006 congressional election for the Eighth Congressional District of Wisconsin (map). He unsuccessfully ran against Democrat Steve Kagen to replace Rep. Mark Green.
2008 elections
Gard is the Republican nominee seeking to challenge Rep. Dave Obey (D-Wis.) in the 2008 congressional elections.[1][1] He ran unopposed in primary elections which took place on September 9, 2008. [1] [1]
Biography
Born in 1963, Gard graduated from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse in 1986. In 1987, he entered the Wisconsin state legislature. In 2003, he was elected Speaker of the Assembly. He and his wife Cate have two children.[1]
