http://willistonherald.com/articles/2010/07/16/news/doc4c35f3418e23a422973637.txt : John Hoeven has worked hard to help the oil and gas-producing counties with impacts from energy development, says Hoeven's Senate campaign manager. "In the last session, between state and federal direct assistance, the 17 oil and gas producing counties will get $200 million. But we are already working to do more now."
http://www.ontheissues.org/Governor/John_Hoeven_Energy_+_Oil.htm :Principles that Hoeven supports regarding energy and oil policy: promote increased use of domestic energy sources; supports increased production of traditional fuel sources; and supports funding for open space preservation. Hoeven also endorsed the goal of using 25% renewable energy by 2025.
http://www.abjusa.com/features/features_march_10/governor_john_hoeven.html : Interview between the American Business Journal and John Hoeven: “Small business is really the engine that drives our economy …it’s very important that we create a healthy environment for them…that means the right legal or regulatory and tax framework that empowers entrepreneurs and small businesses so they can expand…We’ve made tremendous strides in energy…not just traditional sources like coal, oil, and natural gas but also wind, biofuel, ethanol, biodiesel and biomass so, we’re really growing as an energy-producing state.” He states that comprehensive energy legislation is needed at the national level that incentivizes the development of all sources of energy in the country.

http://www.bismarcktribune.com/news/local/article_e6cd8a62-3471-11df-96cc-001cc4c03286.html - Major points in Hoeven’s campaign will be energy policy, the economy, job creation, and reigning in spending.
Hoeven said he is opposed to cap and trade and the health care bill, because both will hurt business and raise taxes. Rather, the answer is in increased competition, expanded use of health savings accounts, tort reform and more transparency. This is Hoeven’s fourth statewide race, but marks the first time he has run for national office.
