Iraq War

Sullivan voted for the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 that started the Iraq War.^[1]

Bio

Background

Born January 1, 1965, Sullivan graduated from Bishop Kelley High School and Northeastern State University, where he received a B.B.A. in Marketing in 1992. Sullivan had been a Republican member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives since 2002 when seven-year incumbent Steve Largent resigned to focus on his campaign for governor.

Congressional Career

Incumbent governor Frank Keating's wife, Cathy, was widely expected to win the Republican primary, which was thought to be tantamount to election in the heavily Republican district. However, Sullivan scored a major upset and went on to win in the February special election. He won the seat in his own right in November and was reelected in 2004, both times by overwhelming margins.

2006 elections

In 2006, the Democrats nominated Alan Gentges to face Sullivan in his November 2006 bid for reelection. (See U.S. congressional elections in 2006) [1] Sullivan retained his seat.
