Lester Townsend is a U.S. Taxpayers Party candidate in the November 2006 election for Michigan's 12th District. He is facing incumbent Rep. Sandy Levin (D-Mich.).

On his website, Townsend states that the primary issue he wants voters to consider is "the fact that our courts are legislating from the bench in violation of the U.S. Constitution. There is currently an all out attack on the Christian religion and people of faith in this country. The use of the Federal Courts to attack Christians must stop." [1]
