Michael Ortega was a Socialist Workers Party candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the 34th Congressional District (map) of California. He won the Socialist Workers Party nomination in the June 2008 primaries, but lost to incumbent Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-Calif.) in the November 2008 U.S. congressional elections.[1]
