For a large portion of my adult life I have compromised my fundamental beliefs when casting my vote in local and national elections. The candidates did not support my core values in limited government. Voting in this manner election after election has resulted in a government that is completely out of control. “We the people” have written letters, emailed and phoned our elected officials and they have ignored us. The elitist politicians need to be shown the exit door. The best way to achieve this is to stop complaining and run for the US House of Representatives myself. The voters in Ohio’s 3rd Congressional district will at least have a conservative candidate on the ballot.

I want to get the country “Back to the Basics.” Those basics are, of course, the Constitution of the United States and the original Bill of Rights. The Federal Government should be a very small part of our lives. Every district in this country needs to get their own house in order. “We the people” need to be resourceful, self reliant and responsible for our own decisions.

It is my turn to step up and serve this great country. I will uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights. I will fight for individual freedom, liberty, property rights and a truly free market system, and work tirelessly do what is best for our country. I will not be bribed, especially with your tax money.

Ronald Reagan was correct when he said “Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.”

Rene Oberer is a life-long resident of the Dayton area. While Rene is not the professional politician, she has cultivated the skills and acquired the know how to solve Americas difficult problems and change the path our great country is traveling down. Her unique and immeasurable life experiences are what have contributed to this complex and driven individual, and given her the keen sense to know that now is the time to choose liberty. Rene’s optimistic can do approach was formed by accomplishments in both her professional and personal life. When she was faced with extreme adversity, Rene rose to the occasion and came out victorious. She is a conglomeration of the hard working average American who has had success in her business endeavors, faced life’s difficult times with courage and hope, and when handed a dismal medical prognosis refused to surrender and beat the odds.

Her great grandfather, Carl Oberer, immigrated to this country in the late 1880s. In 1922 he started Oberer’s Flowers, which is still family owned and operated. Growing up in a family business, and working there for more than 20 years, Rene quickly learned about the value of hard work, responsibility, and leading by example.

John Coles, Rene’s husband of 24 years, is also a life-long resident of the Dayton area. After graduating from Vandalia Butler High School, he went on to Ohio Northern University to receive his Bachelor of Science of Pharmacy. Rene helped John operate their small town pharmacy, Owl Drugs in West Milton, OH from 1988 - 2006. He is still employed as a pharmacist for the new owners.

As sole proprietor of Rene’s Dance Studio, Rene served as mentor and taught ballet and other forms of dance to children of all ages. She retired in 2008. Rene and John ventured into several other smaller endeavors. They started Earth Friendly Stoves and sold wood pellet appliances for 9 years. They sold that business in 2001. Today they own and operate HeatSeekers Thermal Imaging. This business offers a service of infra red scans of private homes to pinpoint energy losses so that the homeowner can be more cost effective in doing repairs.

Family is the center of Rene and John’s lives. They have two children, Corey and Makenzie. They have both grown into self reliant, responsible, and productive citizens, forging happy and prosperous lives for themselves.

There are many activities and hobbies that Rene enjoys. She is a pilot, and aviation enthusiast. The entire family is licensed concealed weapons carriers. Rene’ paints, works with art glass, is an accomplished seamstress, quilter and has taken up knitting and crocheting.

A pivotal moment in her life was an extended stay with a life threatening illness at Good Samaritan Hospital. Her long and grueling road to recovery aided by an excellent medical staff, friends and loved ones has given her the inner strength, and perspective to lead her life in a balanced and satisfying way. She now stays physically fit and healthy by pursuing her passion in all forms of dance, playing tennis and golf, walking her two dogs and watching the birds. Life is what you make it.
