Pays wife for campaign work
In October 2006, the Sunlight Foundation, a Washington-based non-profit organization which advocates better transparency in government, reported that Inglis’s campaign committee paid his wife $25,960 to serve as the campaign’s manager/scheduler during 2005-2006. [1]
Biography
Inglis was born October 11, 1959 in Bluffton, South Carolina. He holds a bachelor's degree from Duke University, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Virginia.
Congressional career
Choosing to keep to his pledge for term limits, Inglis vacated his U.S House seat in 1998 to narrowly lose a U.S. Senate race to Democratic incumbent Fritz Hollings. In 2004, Inglis' successor in the 4th district, Jim DeMint, resigned to run for Hollings' now open Senate seat. Inglis chose to take his old House seat back and faced little opposition from either party and was elected again to represent the 4th district.
2006 congressional elections
In 2006, the Democrats nominated William I. Griffith, and the Libertarian Party nominated John Cobin to face Inglis in his November 2006 bid for reelection. (See U.S. congressional elections in 2006) [2] Inglis retained his seat.
