Support for gun control

DeLauro cosponsored H.R. 3104, which sought "To amend title 18, United States Code, to prohibit the importation and the manufacture of firearms designed to accept a silencer, bayonet, grenade launcher, flash suppressor, or folding stock, of certain ammunition feeding devices, and of related devices, and to provide for the imposition of enhanced penalties for the possession or the use of any such item in a crime of violence or in a drug trafficking crime." [2]

Bio

She was born March 2, 1943 in New Haven, Connecticut. She was educated at Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, the London School of Economics and Columbia University, and was an administrative assistant and chief of staff for Senator Christopher J. Dodd and executive director of EMILY's List before entering the House. She is married to political strategist Stan Greenberg.

While discussing Hurricane Katrina and President Bush's plan, she was quoted in the New York Times as saying, "Poor people are going to get the short end of the stick, despite all the public sympathy. That's a great irony."[1]

2006 elections

In 2006, the Republicans nominated Joseph Vollano to face DeLauro in her November 2006 bid for reelection. (See U.S. congressional elections in 2006) [2] DeLauro retained her seat.
