Rosie Avila was the Republican nominee in the 2008 congressional elections for the 47th Congressional District (map) of California. She was the Republican nominee challenging incumbent Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.). She ran unopposed in primary elections which took place on June 3, 2008, but lost to Sanchez in the November general election.[1]
