Selden Spencer was a Democratic candidate for the 4th Congressional District of Iowa

Selden Spencer was a Democratic candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the 4th Congressional District (map) of Iowa. He was seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge incumbent Rep. Tom Latham (R-Iowa). The primary will take place on June 3, 2008.

Bio

Dr. Selden Spencer has a lifelong connection to the Midwest. He was born in Freeport, Illinois and received his Bachelor’s degree at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Dr. Spencer went on to receive his medical degree in neurology at the University of North Dakota. After meeting his wife Jean, who was raised in Iowa, Dr. Spencer moved to Iowa and has been a resident of Huxley for sixteen years. Dr. Spencer practices Neurology in Ames.[1]

2006 elections

In 2006, the Democrats nominated Spencer to face Tom Latham in his November 2006 bid for reelection. Latham retained his seat. (See U.S. congressional elections in 2006)[2]

2008 elections

Spencer was seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge Rep. Tom Latham (R-Iowa) in the 2008 congressional elections, but has withdrawn.[3][4][5]
