I sent this to my congressman, Bruce Braley (D):

RE: The Employee Free Choice Act

I registered Democrat for the first time in my life to caucus for President Obama in Iowa. (I'm ordinarily a fierce independent.)

I very much appreciate the new blood in the White House and think President Obama will do some very good things for this country, but I differ very strenuously with his position on the Employee Free Choice Act and urge you to vote down this legislation.

I understand being beholden to an interest group (in this case the unions), but I am your constituent, too, and I am not part of any mandate that would favor union membership and growth over a healthy, union-free workplace, which is by far a more preferable climate for business growth, nimbleness and productivity.

Do not cause harm to a very delicate economy by passing this legislation!
