Initial article setup

Hey guys. This article is different than the other ones in that your task is largely organizing and paraphrasing other articles instead of doing external research.

Essentially I'd like you to put the summary for each national security and foreign policy article within this article. Some articles may already have a summary (which makes your job easy), but others will need you to label or even write one. (I've already included links to all our national security and foreign policy articles on the page.)

Specifically:

  • Grab the summary from each article and place it on this article.
  • If the summary is not demarcated with a summary box (installed by using "{{summary|<text goes here>}}"), make it so.
  • If a summary doesn't exist, write one. You're generally shooting for a single paragraph or a few short ones. It must be limited to being a summary only of what is already on the page (though you can add more to the page if you like). Because the content in the main article should be fully sourced already, it is optional to copy the footnotes to the summary as well. (More on summaries.)
  • In the summary on the main page, add a "{{Main|<name of article>}}" before the end of the box.

Because you're messing with the text on a more root level, you'll probably need to turn off the rich-text editor and just use the regular markup. You can turn it off by going to "my preferences" at the top of the window (when you're logged-in), select the "Misc" tab and check the box labeled "Disable rich editor".

For an example of an article that had a summary written but not boxed, see this original and the current version). I then copied the summary to this article here. Please don't feel limited by these instructions - if you think there's a better way to do it, go ahead. If you have any questions, hit me up on my talk page.--Conor_Kenny 17:35, April 13, 2009 (UTC)
