This panel will be a 'pitch it' type session, where attendees can share their big ideas for the next phase of political technology innovation. The panel will include three experts who will provide instant feedback on ideas, set against a contextual discussion of trends in political consumer behavior and latest available technology.
Speakers
- Jonathan Karush - Jonathan is the President and Founder of Liberty Concepts Inc., one of the nation's leading online consulting firms to progressive organizations. He is a frequent speaker and writer on the role of the Internet in politics, government, and civic life. His essay on the 'Internet and the Future of Democracy' awarded him first prize from Ohio State University's national public policy essay competition. Politics Magazine named Jonathan a 'Rising Star' in 2008. Jonathan has a BA cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University.
- Nancy Scola - Nancy Scola is a former staffer for the House Committee on Government Reform where she covered both online communications and technology policy. Before that, Nancy developed research techniques in the non-profit sector for an organization focused on the development of urban neighborhoods. And before that, she was a grad student in anthropology. She is now a journalist/writer, blogger, and editor whose work focuses on the intersections of technology, politics, and culture. She is an Associate Editor of PersonalDemocracy.com and TechPresident.com. She also blogs at nancyscola.com
- Brian Reich - Brian Reich is the Director of Community and Partnerships for iFOCOS, the media think tank and futures lab that organizes the We Media community, conferences and awards. He's also Managing Editor of WeMedia.com and a Principal at EchoDitto (www.echoditto.com ). He is a regular writer and speaker on the issues involving the impact of the internet and technology on politics, society, and the media. He is the editor of Thinking About Media (www.thinkingaboutmedia.com ), a blog examining little 'm' media around the world (among other things) and blogs as an expert on FastCompany.com. His book, Media Rules!,: Mastering Today's Technology to Connect With and Keep Your Audience was published by Wiley & Sons in December 2007.
