Vernon Jones was a Democratic candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the Senate in Georgia. He is seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge incumbent Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.). Because no candidate received 50% of the vote in the July Democratic primary elections, Jones faced Jim Martin in an August 5th runoff and lost.[1]
