Criminals and crazy people will always be able to get guns. It’s the law abiding citizens who would suffer with a moronic bill like this. Wake up!

Remember that you have to renew the license yearly w/ a fee,
go to jail if you move and do not report it,
go to jail if you give/receive a gun without reporting it,
go to jail if you have a gun w/ kids in the house (they might use it)

Don’t forget, if they know you have them they can come and get them!!

About 20 years ago in California, the State decided to ‘register’ all ‘assault weapons’ but they were going to ‘grandfather’ all that were already owned by Californians. They promised that those who had them would be able to keep them – no one else would be able to obtain ‘assault weapons’ (but those who already had them would be able to keep them).

About 90 days after they registered them, the State of California ‘changed their minds’ and told those who had registered their ‘assault weapons’ that they had 90 days to turn them in or they would be coming to their homes to take them.

This bill only gives information on law abiding citizens for the government to later track down and take those guns away. It will not deter the sale of guns to criminals and it will not take the guns out of criminals hands. It will eventually make criminals out of actual law abiding citizens!

This type of bill does nothing and is the Bull -- that congress keeps trying to pass. These bills do nothing for crime prevention. They just screw with the honest citizen. Stop making new laws and inforce the ones on the books. Leave the honest citizen alone.

You have to show identification to purchase now. You have to pass a background check now. The registration they want allows them to know who has firearms, and control those at a later date. Pass a law that outlaws certain firearms, the government knows who has them. Decide to TAX firearms owners, the government knows who has them. This prposed law does notning to stem crime.

Only a person that does not understand there rights would call guns a weapon. A rock could be a weapon in the wrong hands

You have to be kidding ???? Didn’t you read the part about having the “right” to inspect your home at any time “they feel like it”. Didn’t you read the part about submitting to a “medical or mental evaluation”, and again when ever “they feel like it”.
A law-abiding gun owner would never sound off like you have, nor would they ever agree to “total Federal/State” control of their guns.
This my fellow American, is just another way of attacking out God given right to “own” and “bear” guns at any time to protect our homes and loved ones.
I hate to say this,,,,, you might just be one of those who would need a medical or mental evaluation before you could KEEP your guns.

Your nuts. This is back door confiscation not unlike what Hitler did in order to subjugate the German people prior to the Nazi takeover before World war 2. Making an end run around the 2nd amendment is a start of complete domination of the citizens of the United States of America. It does nothing but protect the criminal from having to worry about his victims fighting back.

The laws that are currently in place already provide protection against criminals. It is already illegal to sell firearms to criminals, and no law abiding citizen does it. Enforce the existing laws!
This IS an attempt at limiting and removing the rights of law abiding citizens and lining a corrupt system’s pockets with more money.

Very naive!!! The government should make you test for a federal license to own a car!! Wake up!! It is one more step in abolishing weapons completely!!! Crack down on people who commit crimes with guns and leave law abiding citizens alone!!!

You need to do more research before you post comments. Yes the bill reads just as you said, but that is just the beginning. The Government starts small and eventually make it so difficult to buy a gun, the individual gives up. It is already alot of paperwork in a gun purchase, just what we need is more red tape.

It is simple, implement EXTREMELY strict punishment or people who commit crimes with guns. DO NOT RESTRICT the Lawful gun owner. He may be your best friend in a split second!!

Keep reading the fine print. Yes, it states that you must be of sound mind and body. It also states that you must submit to a mental and physical evaluation at the whem of the government should there be any question is your registration of gun ownership. Are you really willing to agree to such government intervention?? Revolution is a definite possibility in my mind.

The democrats want complete confiscation so they can remove the threat of opposition of the very people they will oppress. Hitler did the same. These people now in power are dangerous, they will abolish the constitution that makes us free and will rule as an extremest totalitarianism government. Wake up people, they are dangerous.

That’s my take on this bill only it’s not just the democrats. All politicians maybe a little concerned about an armed citizenry.

If this gets passed we will be just like every other country that is anti firearms. The crime rate will triple and the only people with firearms will be criminals. Honest people will only be left with bows and arrows to defend themselfs and there homes. We already dont have enough police, or prisons. Its time for Americans to wake and have thier voices heard. If they dont this liberial government will turn this country into a unfit place to live. When was the last time we had a leader who actually defended this country, and I dont mean from an office somewhere. I for one am sick and tired of all this – - – -

The government has already test this out in our prisons, the only ones to have guns in them are the governing body, and there is still just as much crime, drugs and gangs in the prison system that is supposed to be a controlled environment. Gun controll doesn’t work. I don’t think they have ever looked at how corrupt and crime ridden our prison system really is.

You are absilutlely correct. These laws will do nothing to control ileagal guns being used by unlawful people. Why can’t our government focus on the real issue? It is because they do not have a clue how to fix the real problem that they try to nake it look like they are doing something by proposing legilation that will not have any effect on the problem.

First off I will let you know that I am a hunter and gun owner. This bill is not to place more restrictions on gun owners or keep criminals from having guns. It is designed to help in the tracking of weapons used in crimes. To find out how and where the weapon was accessed, and tie it in to crimes. The problem with it is if it is stolen and they can prove that the rightful owner had not stored it properly i.e. in a safe, they would or will probably file charges against them as well even if they were not involved in the actual crime. Your car is registered, and most people keep it locked or in a garage, they are expecting gun owners to be responsible as with a car owner. You don’t leave the keys where the kids can get to them, you don’t leave a gun where the kids can get to them, you lock your car to keep it from being stolen, you lock up your guns to keep them from being stolen. It shouldn’t be a problem with gun owners much like a child putting up their toys. They haven’t taken away our right to own a gun just making us register them and be responsible gun owners. Now if it would stop there I wouldn’t have a problem with it but as with any other government bill there are hidden agendas. That is what the gun owners are fighting mad about. We cannot trust our government to do what it says it will do or trust their reasoning behind anything. From our town mayors all the way up to our Washington big government all is corrupt and none do as they say they will. They weren’t born criminals the polotics just turned them that way. I say we need to protect our right to own weapons, and at the same time be responsible. It would be simple and Washington would get more cooperation if they would be truthful about what they are trying to do and stick to it.

The goverment does not need to know how many guns I own. I purchase them I own them. They have no right coming into my house to see how I store them. This is what you call TO MUCH GOVERMENT. Worry about economy and the mess you got us into. It will be a cold day in hell before I register any of my guns.

I am outraged by this bill. A select number of Washington politicians trying to take away our rights. This kind of bill will make criminals out of now law abiding citizens and keep new enthusiast away from the sports of hunting, shooting, and collecting firearms. We have so many more important things that these Rep. and Senators need to be focusing their efforts on at this point in time. I have contacted my state legislators and expressed my feelings on this and I strongly urge everyone to do the same if you care to keep your second amendment rights.

Perhaps one of the persons making comments here could give me some research data on hand guns as an effective means for self-defense and home protection. I’m looking for real data, not just anecdotes and news stories about how person “x” shot criminal “y” during a robbery. If I use that kind of story I will get the argument about how some guy shot his teenage daughter when she was sneaking into the house after a late date.

In the end, straight up licensing and registration of firearms seems like a reasonable means of control within a country that is rife with gun deaths, purposeful and accidental.
