I do think it is a good idea Scott.

And thank you for writing again.

It seems all we have heard out of Washington since the elections is how much is going to be cut from the budget. The Republicans want to cut around $100 Billion, and the Democrats want to cut around $50 Billion.

Either figure is only a tiny percent of the deficit, and many of the proposed cuts will hurt people that are already hurting badly.

Our Congress wastes all this time arguing over how much to cut things that help non-rich Americans that will not even make a dent in the deficit while millions of Americans worry if they can keep a roof over their head, if they even still have one anymore.

The tax giveaways to the rich that were rammed down our throats not long ago cost $149.5 Billion, as much as the Republican and Democrat budget cuts combined!

Washington is definitely broken beyond repair!

Here is an article saying the same thing,

    GOP budget cuts

    Deficit hawkery as farce

I’M HAVING trouble writing about the GOP effort to reach a compromise over whether to cut $100 billion out of the 2011 budget, or just $50-60 billion. My problem is that I can’t really write about the advantages or disadvantages of one or another version of the cuts when the entire enterprise appears completely senseless to me. The notion, apparently, is that continuing unemployment and slow growth in America are caused by the federal budget deficit. So shrinking the deficit by $50-60 billion will presumably lead to faster economic growth and renewed hiring. Yet exactly one month ago, these same Republican leaders eagerly agreed to a tax-cut package that raised the federal deficit for 2011 by over $400 billion.

It’s great to hear from you, JoHamm. You’re in the right place for medical care. To think you actually have access to a laptop, so you can keep in touch. Prayers are ongoing, with a special intention for you at Mass today.

Again, it’s a good thing that you are getting medical care now. Getting well will take time. For the long range, it’s possible that you could get SS disability, which is a time-consuming procedure but the SS administration told me that attorneys will wait for that final “backpay” from which to deduct their percentage. You don’t need to think about it now. Just cooperate with your doctors and find a way to relax.

    MrsChang
I learned that in order to get SSDI you need to have worked 5 years in the last ten years. With some people its going to be tough to qualify with all the gaps in employment with the unemployment rate so high. I hope that Legion 1 and others can qualify.

    MrsChang 03/13/2011 11:20am

Hmmm. 5 years in the last 10 years. I think JoHamm talked about being unemployed since 2007, so that’s only 4 years so far. Even if it were since 2006, that would fall into the 5 year time frame.

Good grief! Even our disability claims are restricted. But wait, I was told by the SS administration, over the phone, that even if I were collecting early SS, if anything happened to get me disabled before age 65, that I could still apply for SS disability. Oh well, who knows what their rules are about? We just have to hang in there.

BTW, Hope, there’s also this bothersome issue of radioactive radiation. Please take precautions, since you’re also on the West Coast.

why is it that the private sector aka average joe has to sacrifice all kinds of things but unions are above it? unions are organized maffias with the top getting all the money and favors. they are in bed with government. unions are not what they used to be. we have laws now against overworking and payment. unions are about dues and making money and giving people gravy trains on the tax payers backs. we are in a depression and unions are finding out they are not immune from it either which is hilarious. maybe we can see some good politicians once they can’t be connected to unions and the favoritism, etc that goes on. its about time. over paid undereducated overrated inflated people are getting their ass handed to them. its about time. the rest of us have been unemployed for years and would gladly take a 80,000 dollar per year job with benefits. geeze they just asked these people to contribute more and they were like no way! im union! free ride!

In tombs my biggest worries. But yet confirms them deeply. Neither politic Party has our best interest at heart and neither can be classified as truly doing America’s business. In order to create anything, America needs to stand on its own two feet and needs to demand a better system, one that truly represents it as one body and not afraid to stand up and speak when those in power now, choose not too, for they control there own self interest and would rather the rest of us pass on.

Legion, really sorry to hear all you are going through. I am really glad that you got to the hospital in time for help. You will be alright now. Just hang in . All my prayers and good wishes are with you. Keep us posted.

The MONEY is flowing: sums up “WHY” we have seen so much $$ being pumped into U.S.A. politics and everything that has been happening since our Higher Court Justices said “Yea” to in a stunning 5-4 ruling.

Some of us have been trying to warn people about how serious the propaganda machine and their psyop games really is for a long time. Here is more proof.

Army of Fake Social Media Friends to Promote Propaganda

It’s recently been revealed that the U.S. government contracted HBGary Federal for the development of software which could create multiple fake social media profiles to manipulate and sway public opinion on controversial issues by promoting propaganda. It could also be used as surveillance to find public opinions with points of view the powers-that-be didn’t like. It could then potentially have their “fake” people run smear campaigns against those “real” people. As disturbing as this is, it’s not really new for U.S. intelligence or private intelligence firms to do the dirty work behind closed doors.

THE HYPERREALITY OF A FAILING CORPORATE MEDIA SYSTEM

Hyperreality is the inability to distinguish between what is real and what is not. Corporate media, Fox in particular, offers news that creates a hyperreality of real world problems and issues. Consumers of corporate television news—especially those whose understandings are framed primarily from that medium alone—are embedded in a state of excited delirium and knowinglessness.

Corporate Media hasn’t acted as a cohesive, protective “fourth estate” in several decades, instead gilding lilies such as the Iraq war, torture and the true extent of Hurricane Katrina’s devastation.

Just turn on CNN and watch the same news and same pictures from Japan being run over and over as “breaking news”.

There is nothing else important to us going on in the world?
