According to World Health organization 30 45 million people in Africa depend on fish for their livelihood. Fish is an indispensible source of micronutrients such as Iron, Iodine, calcium, Zinc, Vitamin A and Vitamin B African countries need. Asian carp may be the solution. Asian carp may be a blessing to 3rd world countries.

Asian Carp Fish, Inc a Minnesota based company can help with the control of Asian Carp. The state provides the funds to commercially harvest and process the fish. We provide storage and transportation to Africa and 3rd world countries. Lots of starving people in Africa and 3rd world countries will be too happy to eat the fish. Create employment and economic growth. Our contact information

Giving money actually takes away from the poor being able to learn how to fend for themselves. They just become professional beggers. Plus, don’t we need all of our allocations directed to our depression right now. Obama follows the constitution like he follows the people’s will.

glenn_cer 04/01/2009 9:34pm

They have to be joking right? The Skull and Bonesmen want to save the World? It’s the love of money, which is the sin. FEMA (Bush: you’re doing a hell of a good job) screws New Orleans during and after a Cat 5 hurricane, paying the city a fraction of what they were promised. All these secret societies will inherit the earth after global warming ruins it first. These societies and government officials say they care about their children and eventuall grandchildren. What a blatant lie of omission !!! They’re selfish to the n’th degree and don’t care about anything except themselves. As in Egypt, bury them with their GOLD!!

vminch 03/17/2009 7:34am

I thought our economy was supposed to be in such a shambles – as bad as the Great Depression! Where will the money come from? Are we going to borrow from China so that we can give foreign aid? Congress is out of their minds!

Wait let’s not be so stereotypical. Many religions are all that you claim and some far worse indeed true religion and undefiled is very difficult to find. However it does exist. The fact that it does is ONE reason that folks have such a problem with others calling themselves Christians. The original definition for Christian is “like Christ” and those of us who still consider this the definition correct do not appreciate folks perverting the definition and then labeling themselves and thus us with there own “dogmatic nonsense” in the eyes of the world. However there are many more reasons why one religion would hate another using that word.

To pass this bill would be a travisty. Are you kidding me? We are going to prevent poverty around the world and we can’t even take care of our own improvished and homeless. And, you’ll do it tax money from where? Oh yeah, we’ll just print more money and devalue the dollar even more

Oh, right. I mean, people like Stalin and Mao, who rejected all religions and even quashed it, did not harm humanity a bit.

It is not religion that has harmed people, it is people who have harmed people. And they’ve utilized whatever justification they wanted to do it. Until you learn something about Christianity, please refrain from commenting on it.

Well, in fairness, the lawn at the White House is really well-kept. I mean, like Hank Hill well-kept.

We hope the ones we trusted in our congress will not allow the 2433 bill to become law. This will be selling our nation down the tubes forever. Please Stop this kind of action NOW! Sincerely,Elaine & George Carpenter

We are sick of taking care of everyplace in the world but our place. I refuse to say “Homeland” as that’s not an American term.

Anonymous 02/05/2009 5:57am

the first step to solving world hunger is to address the need for birth control in these over populated countries. If these governments would educate their people and offer free sterization, the need for us to feed these starving children would be lessened

sillybloke 02/04/2009 4:56pm

You’re use of the term “comrade” makes me ill :(

I voted “nay” on this one.

This Bill is terrible for the US. Like many others have said, we give the most money to foreign nations that have disasters but we can hardly save our own people during a crisis here. Why is that? We definately do not need the UN to oversee our Military. We are becoming a weak nation with all this political correctness crap. We can’t think for ourselves without some one being offended. We have no one to stand up and get this country back to where it was 20 or 30 years ago. We’ve given up and sent or sold most American made products overseas to countries with cheap labor resulting in lost jobs and homlessness. We need to remember what America used to be and get her back. take care of our own.

In reply to the following post: Christians believe in Jesus Christ as SAVIOR. The ONLY path to salvation and thus to heaven. Mormons do not even believe that He is God, let alone Savior. So keep your misinformed opinions out of factual postings. Mormons are NOT Christians.

Mormons believe in Jesus as the Christ, so that makes them Christian even if they differ in some other ways from most “Christian” denominations. That many denominations refuse to acknowledge other denominations as “Christian” floors me. Far as I’m concerned, ALL organized religions are authoritarian, dogmatic nonsense, which has harmed humanity far more than it has ever helped.

Has anyone figured out that the Congress and those in the Washington beltway think we have no comprehension when it comes to taking care of our country? I don’t know about you, but it is getting very scary watching what is happening to our country. Comrades, we are doomed!

Anonymous 02/02/2009 7:34am

I Believe we should cut off all foreign aid and take care of our own CITIZINS! Having lived overseas for many years the more money the US gives the more we are bad mouthed. Let’s stop any funds for a few years and see how their song will change. The United States cannot be the keeper of the world. Our own lifestyles will go downhill as well with all this debt. Is that what all the bleeding heart liberals want?

oldcolonial 01/30/2009 3:52pm

No more money for the U.N. for any reason. This is a group of thieves and frauds that is no friend of the United States. S.2433 is an affront to our national sovereinty and to our Constitution and Bill of Rights. We are already paying too much to this organization!

Anonymous 01/29/2009 10:57am

I just learned of this bill today – and it’s got me steamed…so let me get this straight – we (the people of the United States – ha – the Senate; who are supposed to have our best interest at heart – haha – liberal, bleeding hearts) are supposed to vote this in and we get to pay for everybody else’s food, homes, education, etc. the world over when MOST of us are struggling right now to pay for our own family’s food, homes, the education of our children, etc. Where exactly do they think this money is coming from? Hello people – it would come from us (taxpayers)!! And what happens if the other UN superpowers don’t vote for it and we do – do we foot the bill all by ourselves? What gives – people don’t want to pay these high taxes and taxes are only going to rise right now to pay the piper for the people who don’t have jobs; yeah – I have an idea – lets eradicate poverty everywhere! Who’s harebrained idea was that!! – there are more and more people living in poverty here (the US) because of things our government has voted into bills. This needs to STOP!! This has nothing to do with religion – where did that string come from. If we try to help everyone, who will help us when we need it – because it’s gonna happen – and we will just be hated for helping anyway like we are now. What are we trying to make France like us – is that the motivation behind this – get real people of the government!!!!! Start representing OUR best interests and STOP giving away the money I work hard to make!!!

Anonymous 01/29/2009 6:16am

It’s a shame our educational system no longer teaches people how to recognize “propaganda”. Our government officials as well as our media are guilty of using propaganda to convince Americans that what they do is for the good of America. I for one will be contacting my state representatives and voicing my opinion on this piece of legislation.

First time I’ve ever responded to this type of forum…obviously you rattled my chain! Visited this site to determine verity/status of The Global Poverty Act. Then stumbled onto your over-generalization of Christians. In case you didn’t know, at the core of every religion is love for fellow man. Christians are human, so we strive for and many of us even accomplish this! It is quite unfair of you to heap us altogether as ineffective bigots (paraphrase). As a Christian, I accept other world religions. This is probably first/last time for me on this site. Consider yourself enlightened!

gapchtag 01/27/2009 1:45pm

We have enough problems at home, lets fix those before we make any attempts to fix the entire world. Further more, if we have this much extra cash I would like my taxes reduced.

Ok, enough with slamming Christians. I am a Christian. I listen to all view points. And yes, I can even change my position on an issue with truthful facts. And I do not go only with many Christians on many issues. We are people too! I believe you spew the words of a bigot!

Anonymous 01/24/2009 9:58am

You know, instead of talking about what we should or shouldn’t do maybe a letter to your congressman/woman would prove to do more than this blog! From what I read on this blog, there are only a couple of folks who think this is a good idea . . . personally the Government ’shouldn’t’ have the right to be taking from us and giving to others . . . and in particular without the citizens of the U.S. being fully aware of it and it’s implications. When someone robs Peter to give to Paul . . . Paul will always be his friend! Isn’t that what the politicians, (Especially the Democrats), are doing? And for Biden, who doesn’t give any of his own to dispurse others money and suggest that this is the ‘patriotic’ thing to do . . . what a damn hypocrit!
