Craig was born July 20, 1945 in Idaho, where he was raised and educated, earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Idaho in 1969. He was elected to the Idaho State Senate in 1974. By this time he was also a farmer and rancher.

He was a member of the Idaho State Senate until 1980, when he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, of which he was a member from 1981 until 1991. During his tenure as a member of the House of Representatives, he strongly supported the Balanced Budget Amendment and President Reagan's push to expand vocational education. Read More...
