Eshoo was born December 13, 1942 in New Britain, Connecticut. She received an associate of arts degree from Canada College in Redwood, CA in 1975. She was an administrative assistant to the speaker pro tempore of the California Assembly (1980-81) and a member of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and a Democratic National Committeewoman from California (1980-1992) before entering the U.S. House.http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=E000215 She is currently the only Assyrian-American member of Congress.http://www-eshoo.house.gov/news/iraq072005.aspx
