Alabama's 6th congressional district is a United States congressional district in Alabama that elects a representative to the United States House of Representatives. It is based around the suburbs of Birmingham, encompassing almost all of Jefferson County except for the city of Birmingham itself and the portion of the county southwest of Birmingham and the entirety of Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Coosa, and Shelby counties. It is currently represented by Republican Spencer Bachus. The Cook Partisan Voting Index rating lists the district as tied with Texas's 13th congressional district as being the most Republican districts in the United States. (More from Freebase)
