New Hampshire's 1st congressional district covers the southeastern part of New Hampshire. The district consists of three general areas: Greater Manchester, the Seacoast and the Lakes Region. It is represented in the United States House of Representatives by Democrat Carol Shea-Porter. Politically, the 1st district is one of the most competitive congressional districts in the country, with a Cook Partisan Voting Index of R+1.
